Fan of Resident Evil which I can't call myself satisfied certain folds that the series took in the years following the launch of Resident Evil 4-game that still today considered the only true survival horror. What for years was the Prince of every lover of strong emotions, shivers down your spine, jumps from the Chair in the middle of the night and nightmares where he was pursued by a horde of ravenous zombies will gradually "imbastardita", transforming into a series of action-packed shooter pi pure survival have had very little. Very little.
Resident Evil 5 was, at least for me, the point most low of long tradition in the series, Resident Evil 3D Mercenaries, whom we can offer our review over the next few days, it looks certainly a breath of fresh air to anyone had remained anchored to the old splendour of the past and Racoon City, despite being a very promising title, not to enhance further the fold action that has characterized the latest iterations of the franchise. What we have then? Panic and despair? Not exactly ... There remains Resident Evil Revelations!
The game in question, provided exclusively to 3DS, promises to be the first Resident Evil, true in about ten years and this despite a narrative partly bizarre premise. The adventure will indeed set on the estate of Spencer that we visited for the first time back in 1996 ... "and what's weird?", you say. Nothing, except that the building was recreated within a huge cruise ship. Ultimately what we may be more fearful of a haunted house built inside a ship, which was also infested, which progresses without a definite goal in the middle of the sea?
Since the early stages of the game will also clear that this title punter to recreate that sense of fear and helplessness, stagnation of old Resident Evil; We will have to do with locked rooms that we have to try to unblock, with zombies ready to surprise us in unexpected moments pi and, of course, with puzzles that require skills of analysis and susceptibility to exploration.
Despite a return to basics for much of the concept, the same system riproporr Revelations pointing cos the RE4, alternating third person view of the stages of exploration, with a subjective shot during the shootings. The feeling, as I said, that the game will bring the same sense of addresses of the first chapters of the franchise, but in this sense we take some more time before I can sing definately victory.
Enemies, however, ahead of fine workmanship even in the face of a somewhat unusual design; in this adventure we will not have to do with the classic undead or fearsome Majini of RE5, bens with clusters of tissue fluid, which is a kind of bio-organic weapons consisting mainly of water that will represent an obstacle to which not even fans of the series might be able to respond quickly. The reason? Simple, will be much resistenti as Regerators of RE4, a feature which render any emotional confrontation.
The game promises to be really intense regardless of enemies that we are called to face and that's thanks to the introduction of a particular device aimed at making the stages of exploration even more significant than they already were not in the past: the scanner.
With this tool it will be possible to analyze settings in order to find clues or ammunition that could facilitate subsequent clashes.
The intensity of the atmosphere, guaranteed by a special version of Capcom's MT Framework that promises a not too distant rendering than the recent iterations of the franchise for home consoles, obviously one of the bastions of experience; polygonal character models, starting from Jill, promise good, and the same is called for the setting, rich in details and Sheek to insure that sense of anguish so dear to fans of the series.
In Resident Evil: Revelations promises a well-made title, barring surprises, which should satisfy the expectations of all those who were disappointed by the last chapters of the series. The premises for an experience in line with the historic tradition of the franchise does not seem to be missing, so there remains more to do if you don't cross your fingers, waiting for further details.
Resident Evil: Revelations provided exclusively on 3DS in 2012.
